February 10 –10:59 PM — The Grammys are a Trainwreck and So are the Guests.

The Grammy Trainwreck

Well, I got tricked into watching the Grammys again. After getting 20 minutes deep into this disaster, I would be completely shocked if this is not the worst rated, with the lowest viewer level ever. It would have to be. There’s no host, not even Ellen DeGeneres. You know it’s bad for me when I’m thinking, “Gosh, I could really go for some of Ellen’s quirky humor and awkward silent pauses.”

Of course, like any award show, there’s always unintended entertainment you can count on. As evidenced by Google Hot Trends, others were entertained by this same horror show for the same reasons as I was. Four people who turned up at the Grammys out of nowhere, Aretha Frankin, Cher, Andy Williams, and (last but not least) Tina Turner, each making a more horrific appearance than the last.

A bunch of people searched for Aretha (66 this year), no doubt to see if she was a solid choice to add to their death pool after seeing her frighteningly poured into her taffeta “gown.” Even more looked up Andy Williams (81 this year), who showed up too, looking like he kidnapped Wayne Newton’s plastic surgeon so he would be forced to focus on Andy full-time. Cher, a staple for any award show, swung by and people just had to know how old she was at this point and which skin transplant she was up to (62 in May, and 12). Finally, the number one search was for Tina Turner to find out how old she was (68 this year). Wow, she looks good for someone who’s 68…assuming that not being able to blink and that annoying tendency to cry tears from one’s forehead is overlooked.

Holy crap.

  1. Oh, crap, I missed the Grammys this year! What I find odd is that so many people are punching “grammy.com” into a search bar instead of the URL box and directly going there.

  2. Oh, you didn’t “miss” anything. You know the phrase: “It was like watching a trainwreck.”? Well, this was like watching a boring train wreck.
