I’ll gladly avoid any discussion of Gene Simmons and a possible sex tape. The “Train Wreck” analogy comes to mind thinking about this, as in “I couldn’t look away. It was like watching a train wreck.” I can’t imagine I’d have this type of reaction to seeing Gene Simmons having sex. Maybe more like “I hope the train comes this way” or “Why is this train wreck taking so long? I have an appointment to go and stab out my eyes with a rusty spoon.” My only question, in case any of my fair readers have seen the video: was the makeup off or on? Picture that one. You thought you had trouble sleeping after envisioning the giant sea spiders. Good luck tonight as well.

Anyway…the point of this post is to talk about Buddy Hackett, who mysteriously showed up in Google Trends today. Keep in mind that Buddy died in 2003 and his work since then has been rather uninspired (note the complete absence of any pun…I could have gone with “his work since then has been rather stiff (or lifeless), but I didn’t…well sort of didn’t). He owes his recent surge in popularity to Howard Stern. This once again proves my theory that any B-list celebrity that appears on the show will ALWAYS show up in Google Trends that day. B-list…check. Appear…check. Google Trends…check. Right again.
The observant reader out there will be quick to note that Buddy is dead and, at last check, Howard (nor anyone else) has yet to create a reanimation machine, so an appearance on Howard might seem unlikely. However, the power of technology has brought us…reruns. Sure, not the greatest advance in technology, but an advance nonetheless. Howard is out all week, so they are playing some “best of” shows and Buddy was on today. I guess some people needed to check if he was alive or dead. I’ll admit, he’s a tough one for the alive or dead game. Some others to consider (answers tomorrow): Charles Bronson, Mickey Rooney, and Sidney Poitier. Good luck.
(Oh, sure, you’ve never played alive or dead before…excuuuuuuuse me for offending you.)
