February 22–4:47 PM–The Mega Millions Winning Numbers Predicted by EveryoneButYou.com…Sort Of

The Prediction

One of the features of this blog that I haven’t done just yet is using my ESP to predict future events. Yes, it’s quite a skill, I know, I know, how could I have kept this from you? When you have a 6th sense you don’t think that much of it. For all of you ordinary mortals, this should be impressive.

The Mega Millions jackpot for tonight (Feb 22) is $270 Million. I’ve gotten to hear one of my favorite lines regarding lotteries, so it must be creating a bit of a buzz. The line? “I only play when the jackpot gets really big, otherwise it’s not worth it.” Sure, the 1978 Datsun you’re riding around in and your parents, who wonder aloud each day why their 46 year old son is still living at home, all think that a small jackpot isn’t worth it for you. One of those piddly jackpots of, say, $10 Million wouldn’t change your life one bit. You still wouldn’t be any closer to getting your name on the plaque at the local “Meatateria” for finishing off their “Death By Porterhouse.” You still wouldn’t see nary a move in your level in D&D (please don’t make me explain if you don’t get it). You still wouldn’t have a need for new t-shirts…the old ones are nice what with all the yellow staining. Now, I’m not an advocate for the lottery and I don’t think it’s a good idea to play it regularly. However, if your reason for not playing is that the money you would win isn’t that significant, you’re an idiot. Next.

As of this moment, there is nothing on Google Trends related to the Mega Millions drawing this evening. So, here goes my first prediction on this blog. Something related to the winning numbers will be on Google Trends after the drawing. It takes place at 11 PM EST. I’m going with “Mega Millions Winning Numbers” to be not only in the top 10, but in the top 3 (why not go for broke on these prediction) sometime by 11:30 PM EST or 12:oo AM EST.

One of the main reasons for this blog is to see if one can predict which trends are going to emerge and why. Which things do people turn to Google to find out? Which types of media (or specific shows) drive searches? Lastly, what in the world can I do with this accumulated knowledge besides create more sarcastic banter?

Note: for those who came for an actual prediction of the winning numbers, here goes: 2, 15, 34, 35, 41, Mega Ball 18. (I really do hope I’m wrong because if somehow these are right, this is my last posting…you’ll never see or hear from me again…check your local asylum.)
