For those who know me, you know that I think I know everything. In a world with Google though, I of course know nothing. So, today’s post is another EBY mystery. Fabrique Nationale Pistols. Why are you number 8 on Google Trends?
I’ve searched and searched and haven’t come up with any good reason. There are no news feeds, no information posted anywhere that would indicate what’s going on. In these cases, rather than being an investigative pit bull, I prefer just to make up a story. They’re usually more interesting anyway. However, this does bring up a good question. How can thousands of people be searching for the same thing out of the blue all at once and there’s no reliable way to figure out why? Seems like Google should be more useful in this area.
So, if you find yourself here looking for answers, I don’t have them. However, I’ll extend my usual offer to donate $5 to the charity of choice of the person who can come up with the explanation why “Fabrique Nationale Pistols” suddenly appeared on Google Trends.
Here’s some background for those of you searching for answers:
Fabrique Nationale makes such fun, play at home, weapons as the following:

The FN 303 Standard Launcher should be under every kid’s Christmas tree this year. Never fear, 273 days till Christmas (272 shopping days, though I’m sure you can expedited shipping on these things). Last check though, Amazon was sold out. They said they’d have more when they get more Wiis in stock. And, relax Moms. This is a “less lethal” alternative firing only somewhat harmless beanbags (unless you get hit with one, of course).

Now, for those of you who prefer a MORE lethal alternative, this is the way to go. The FN Tactical Police Shotgun (TPS) with Collapsible Stock. The collapsible stock is great for safely storing the weapon if you are a law enforcement agent or great for concealing in a trench coat if you are a felon looking to “open a new account” at your local bank.
My favorite, of course, is any time a company decides to use YouTube to promote their business. Folks, a YouTube video is not for every company. It’s just not. Yes, yes, you are cutting edge and you’re “using alternate channels,” but you’re also looking like an ass. So, here’s their video complete with some really crappy speed metal as a soundtrack. Just what you want as an image for your gun manufacturing company. The anti-gun lobbyists must love YouTube.
Of course, it’s likely you won’t hear from me again, courtesy of this thing:

I think the “FN A5 M Shooting System” is one of those rifles that can shoot you from 5 miles away. So, good news is that I likely won’t see it coming unless they decide to take me out with a barrage of beanbags.

What a way to go.
UPDATE: (3:00 PM) I just discovered this article at CNN that talks about a story that broke today about guns being smuggled into Mexico. I can only assume some of these must have been Fabrique Nationale weapons, but they aren’t specifically mentioned in the article.
